Diet Tips

We do not need more diet tips. If there was only one tip to give that most people are not doing and is the reason most programs fail, here it is. KEEP A FOOD DIARY. Any web search will bring up hundreds and hundreds of pages. Bookstores are full of new titles with all their tips and recipes. Every year, new diets claim to have the major breakthrough, yet obesity is out of control. I am going to rattle a few cages, but I don't care, truth is more valuable than anything else in this world, once you have it, you can make informed decisions. The are all sort of claims, and many diet tips that do work well. However every succussful new diet has one thing in common. Can you guess what it is?

Here is a quick list of some
Atkins Diet
Low Carb Diet
Zone Diet
Weight Watchers
Jenny Craig
Tony Ferguson
Cabbage Soup
High protein Diet
CSIRO diet

Too many more to mention. Food is the fuel by which we survive, eat low quality foods and you will have a low quality body. To get the most out of your exercises, you must feed your muscles. Problems arise when we do not understand how much.

All of the above diets give their own twist and interpretation on diet tips. There is some truth to what they are saying with quite a few things missing. Lets take the high protein diet for example. It is true you can lose a little more fat on this diet than the others, but you need to ask yourself...

Can I eat like this for the rest of my life?
If you answer NO, the diet has failed.

Eat what suits your body type
I for one could never eat an atkins type diet. If you can good for you. Let me make it clear that if you find something that works for you, keep doing it, don't listen to me or anyone else, listen to your body. After all, if it aint broke, no need to fix it.

One thing they all have in common but don't mention
There is something all these diets forgot to tell you, I can guarantee it. Everyone one of them is a low calorie diet. Add up the calories in any of those programs and they will struggle to get past 1,200. Seeing the average female needs 2,000 and the average male around 2,500 just to maintain their weight, the make up of the calories becomes irrelevant. 1,200 calories a day of chocolate and you will lose weight. It is not healthy, it will ruin your health, but you will lose weight. If you are familiar with Tony Ferguson, I know people who swear by it! I added up the calories and they totalled 800. That is barely enough to keep you alive, you will lose alot of weight that way, including, muscle and water. Two things you don't want to lose for long term success.

It's the calories
Calories are a law of the universe. As sure as gravity pulls you down each day. You consume calories through food and drink. You burn up calories through exercises and daily living activities. Burn up what you eat, weight stays the same, eat more than you burn, weight goes down, eat less than you burn, weight goes down.

It is not rocket science, you cannot escape this truth, dress the diet up in any form you like. The rest is all packaging. There is no weight loss diet that you can lose weight by eating more than you need.

Master Your Calorie Intake and Expenditure
Until you master your calories, all other diet tips cannot serve their purpose. In your program to build a better chest and better body, your first plan of attack is to set your goals. Your second is to get the calories right. Get yourself a calorie counter, track everything for 3 weeks, it will give you a good idea of how big your portion sizes should be. After 21 days of doing this, you will have formed a new habit for life. You don't need to count them for the rest of your life, but you do need to start somewhere. Inform yourself and you will suceed.
