If you are looking for inexpensive discount home gyms, do not buy anything before reading this. Working out at home can have it's benefits, but you must consider your goals first. Once you have your goals clearly identified, you then need to get the equipment that will best satisfy your needs and deliver results. There are plenty of options. I will list what the best discount home gyms options are for each goal and budget.

1.Building Muscle Mass
a)Weight lifting bench that can incline, a barbell, dumbells and some weight plates. This is a minimum. You can do most exercises with this simple and inexpensive piece of equipment. If you do not have a a bigger budget, this is where to start. You can make your own chin up bar, and you can also use any two benches for your bench dips.(required for chest exercises)

The downside is to build some quality mass you need to squat, it is a total body exercise that will contribute the most to building muscle mass. This is a must, if you want to get bigger. You could build your own rack if you are handy with tools.

b)Squat Rack This is the ultimate home solution, you will pay more for it, but if money is not an issue or you are willing to spend a little, it is your best option out of all the discount home gyms. The great thing with this piece of fitness equipment is that you will be able to do your pull-ups and dips as they usually come with these additions. You will be able to safely squat heavy weights. See if you can find one which has the optional attachments for lat pulldowns, and seated rows. This will give you everything you need to bulk up those muscles in the comfort of your own home. The only downside would be space, you will need a fair bit of space. They do cost a little, but well worth the investment.

2.Burning Fat
a)My number one pick is the cross traininer. The main thing to consider is the action of the pedals. Most cross trainers, do not have the correct biomechanics and operate more like a combination of a stepper and cross trainer. This makes it quite uncomfortable. As you go up in price the biomechanics improve. Make sure it replicates real life running action. As runnnig is the most effective way to burn fat, a cross trainer will give you the fat burning effect without the stress on the joints as there is no impact. A decent one will cost you a little more, as the price goes up so does the quality, however as far as discount home gyms go, this is one very worthwhile investment if you want to burn fat and increase fitness.

3.General Fitness
There are many options here, obviously the above mentioned fitness equipment, will also contribute to your fitness. A few other things to add to your home set up, that will cost you very little are.
1.Skipping Rope
2.Swiss Ball (exercise ball, fit ball)
3.Good pair of running shoes

4.Other Discount Home Gyms
a)Fitness equipment such as the Bowflex can get very expensive. It is not ideal for an advanced exerciser or a much larger person. While they can be handy and will take up less space than say a squat rack, the progression is limited for more advanced trainers. That said it is still a very good all round system for the avreage person, so if you have some spare money and want a one stop solution, this may be the piece of equipment for you.

b)TRX Suspension Training
This is by far the best piece of portable gym gear around, take your workout with you wherever you go, the best way to train your core. It wont break the bank, easy to set up, probably the best invention in fitness in a very long time. If you want to build strength, endurance and superior fitness, try the military program that you can get with it. This takes up almost no space.So there you have a list of a few disount home gyms. Again think carefully about your goals, then determine what the best piece of equipment is for you to achieve them.
