Food Diary - Where's yours?

Do you keep a food diary? If you answered yes, chances are you are getting great results from your program. If you answered NO, chances are you are not getting the results you want. Research has shown that those who do not journal their food intake, have a 90% failure rate. That is a fact. It is a simple method that you may only have to do for a few weeks until you get an idea of the portion sizes that are required to reach your goals. Use some diet software like fitday to track it.

Most people underestimate how much food they are actually eating when trying to lose weight. The flip side is that those who are trying to bulk up are underestimating how much food they are actually eating. A food diary ensures you consume the correct number of calories, carbohydrates, protein and fat for your needs. It is the only way to make sure your workouts and eating plan work together. Many people find this a hassle and can't be bothered or forget. I have two questions for them and you....
1.How much do you want it?
2.Are your prepared to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to reach your goal?

You can use pocket book calorie counters and write it all out in a book, or better still use some diet software. I personally use and recommend Fitday software. This is awesome, not only will it count your calories, but also your fat, type of fats, protein, carbohydrates and alcohol. This means each time I enter the food I am eating I can see my calorie total (it adds it up for you) and my percentage of macronutrients. So if my goal is 50% Carbs, 30% protein and 20% fat. Fitday works it out for you. Further to that in the off-line full version, you can work out calories expenditure for different exercises, set your goals, and it creates some nice little charts to help your track your progress. There are thousands of foods listed in it's database, but even if you can't find a food, you can add custom foods to the the list.

Fitday is by far the best food diary software I have used and it is not expensive at all. The best investment you will make. I have been using it for 4 years now. I started on the free web version which you can try out, but the full off line version has so many more options and is much faster to use. If you have never kept a food diary, start now and you will be amazed at the difference it will make, you will get results beyond your dreams. This simple step just happens to be one of the most powerful things you can do. Start today.
